The Asquith Club AGM 2024

The Legacy of the Asquith Bowling Club
The Asquith Bowling & Recreation Club has a rich history dating back to 1950 when it was established to promote the sport of lawn bowls. Today, the club continues to serve its original purpose while also providing a welcoming environment for members and their families, supporting various amateur sports and community activities.
Originally, the site of the Asquith Bowling Club was part of an orchard, then used as a pottery works, and later as a camp for displaced migrants after World War II. The Asquith Progress Association played a crucial role in the club’s development, demonstrating a strong commitment to the local community.
In 1998, the Asquith Bowling & Recreation Club acquired the site after it was initially purchased by Hornsby Shire Council in 1950. This transition marked a significant milestone in the club’s legacy, securing its place as a thriving community hub for years to come.
To celebrate 75 years of the Asquith Bowling Club, a special event is planned for Saturday, 22nd of February. The occasion will feature the launch of a commemorative book detailing the club’s history, along with new merchandise for members to enjoy. Guests can look forward to light refreshments and entertainment as part of the anniversary celebrations.
